Meet the Writers

Introducing our team of amazing writers!

Current Writers:

Andra Stefan: I am a medical student at the University of Aberdeen, having previously graduated with a degree in Natural Sciences from University College London. Although I have only recently discovered my passion for writing, over the years I have had the opportunity to carry out scientific research in different fields from computational chemistry to molecular pharmacology. I have joined Universal Medicine as a writer to further explore research, particularly in the medical field, and to make it more accessible to the public!

Karina Dembla: I’m a biomedical science graduate from the University of Birmingham and a writer for the blog. I joined Universal Medicine to demystify any misconceptions our readers have of medicine/research, to explore the exciting new developments, and to ensure readers of other disciplines are informed about these scientific advancements. I hope you enjoy our posts and thank you for being on this journey with us!

Shilpi Awasthi: I am from the captivating country of Botswana, found in Sub-Saharan Africa. and am a medical student at the University of Birmingham. I enjoy learning more about medicine and how it can improve people's lives - from day to day positive changes to incorporate to future developments in medicine. I am particularly keen on promoting Global Health and I feel that this blog is an opportunity for me to learn and voice more about pressing issues within the field.

Gemisha Cheemungtoo: I am a medical student at Newcastle University, who loves to eat, dance, and write. Having experience at my university paper, this blog is the perfect opportunity to share interesting medical and scientific developments in this refreshing format. I look forward to growing as a writer and learning about more medicine alongside readers!

Manav Babbar: I am a medical student studying at Barts and The London. I am interested in boxing, minimalism, and self-development. I joined this blog because I saw it has a fantastic opportunity to itch my creative bug and write about the things related to medicine that interest me outside the standard curriculum.

Mariam Ali: I am a Biomedical Sciences student and one of the writers for the blog. I enjoy learning about scientific advancements as well as blogging! I have joined the blog to explore more exciting research and share this with a wider platform.

Maliha Shakir: I’m in year 12 and am an aspiring medic willing to pursue medicine as my career. My hobbies and interests include studying and reading and am pleased to be apart of the Universal Medicine #writers team!
