A New Chapter

This past year on the Universal Medicine blog has seen a myriad of different medical and scientific marvels. Breakthroughs in heart attack research, the development of CRISPR, the impact gum can have on our oral hygiene and stem cells are just a few of the many areas covered by the four of us on the team. We felt very privileged to be able to carry on from the previous writers and hopefully maintain the integrity and high quality of the site. Each of has learned a great deal from the experience, and wish to share with you how the blog has been beneficial:

The blog has allowed me to enhance my ability to acquire knowledge and present it in a coherent manner, collating a variety of sources to construct a well-balanced article. Importantly, it has afforded me the chance to delve into the rapid pace of the medical world and keep in line with the latest developments which are salient in the progression of our healthcare system. It has been a pleasure writing for the blog, and I hope you have enjoyed reading!
I am hoping to go on to study medicine, with the aim of specialising in Paediatrics.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this blog as it’s encouraged me to explore further into the depths of new scientific outbreaks. I hope my posts have been able to give others insight into new topics and been of interest. I am hoping to study Dentistry in the near future. I have high hopes for the new bloggers and hope they can gain as much as I have from this blog.

Working on the Universal medicine blog has been a genuinely interesting and worthwhile experience. I urge people to carry on reading the blog even after our departure; there are ideas and topics that you may never even come across otherwise, that make you think in a way you have never done so before, that’s the main aim of this project, for me at least. It’s been a wonderful time and I wish the best to the next generation of Universal medicine blog writer! Take care everyone.

The blog has helped me gain understanding and taught me the importance of research in medicine and improving people’s lives. My plans are to study medicine and take a year out of school to also to research.

Much like last year, an interview process was carried out to find professional individuals to take over and maintain the blog due to impending exams now being our primary focus. We feel that they will be valuable additions to the group and will continue on well from where we have left off. Following this, we are delighted to introduce four new writers:

Lizzie Nash: She is an aspiring dentist hoping to learn more about the medical field and the latest advancements, hopefully inspiring others through her blog posts.

Louis Lane: Louis is hoping to become a biomedical researcher specialising in the area of Oncology, with the blog giving him the chance to mirror his future studies and build up a sound knowledge of new progressions both in his interest and beyond.

Amanda Kadye: Amanda wishes to study medicine due to its integral part in all societies in the way that it can help people and save lives, and hopes to widen the scope of places in medicine which have still yet to find cures and are ambiguous in depth.

Kumaran Rajaratnam: Kumaran feels the dynamic nature of science itself and health-related issues are intriguing and require an open mind, and his aim through the blog is to strengthen his sense of curiosity observe growth within the field as it happens.

It has been an absolute pleasure writing for the blog, and we hope you continue to read and enjoy all future posts. Have a lovely week!
