As we entered the beginning of 2016, there was a huge scare as to a new virus outbreak in the South American countries. A virus capable of causing deficiencies within new born children. On top of a potential outbreak, we had the continuous strikes from the junior doctors which left extreme amounts of people without a GP for a day. Rightfully so, the junior doctors continue to fight on due to an increase in working hours as well as a pay cut which is undeserved. As a qualified doctor, the work can already be strenuous itself and so additions such as the above are not bound to help.

The occurrence of Ramadan saw the followers of Islam begin their fasts for approximately 20 hours a day for a whole month. A potential method to maintain fitness as food is stored as glucose and fat which results in both being used up for the body as energy. Another useful acquirement from fasting is that it is believed to improve blood pressure as well as lowering cholesterol levels within the body which can lower the possibility of coronary heart disease which can lead to heart attacks.
